Here’s the latest project from New York emcee GiANT, The Artist. The EP titled “The Ocean” is the fourth full feature project from the rapper. Throughout the 5-song project we see a more vulnerable side of GiANT as he covers personal struggles, such as lost love, grieving the death of his childhood best friend, and trying to find stability in his life.
GiANT mixes his melodic voice on the hooks with raw emotion in his lyrics. The production reminds me of classic alternative midwest hip hop from acts such as Atmosphere and Eyedea & Abilities. GiANT’s subject matter is very honest, especially in “Therapy” where we hear his dealings with relationships in the past.
Overall the project is very sonically pleasing and a great listen. We look forward to hearing more from GiANT, The Artist in the future.
